Evelyn Allen, 73, former resident

Evelyn Murray Allen of Charlottesville, Va., a former Ridgefielder, died Thursday, Dec. 18, in Charlottesville. She was 73 years old and the wife of Frederick E. Allen of Silver Springs, Md.
Mrs. Allen was born in Bridgeport March 20, 1930, daughter of the late James and Gertrude Kiely Murray. She graduated from Bridgeport High School.
She had been a Ridgefield resident for 33 years, moving to Newtown in 1996 and then to Silver Springs.
Mrs. Allen had been an executive secretary for Perkin-Elmer for eight years and later worked as a bookkeeper for a Danbury construction company.
She enjoyed gardening.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, William F. Allen of North Bethesda, Md.; a daughter, Leslie M. Hartten of Northglen, Colo.; a brother, John Murray of Greenville, Texas; and a granddaughter, Katherine Hartten.
Services will take place Monday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury.
Burial will be in Ridgebury Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 Monday.
