Jordan Barrows, RHS Class of 57, banker
Jordan Edward Barrows of New Milford, a bank executive and businessman who grew up in Ridgefield, died on Sunday, Aug. 11, at New Milford Hospital. He was 63 years old and the husband of Julie Blackman Barrows.
Mr. Barrows, a son of Albert and Catherine Cavanagh Barrows, was raised in Ridgefield and graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1957. He continued his education at the University of Connecticut and became a C.P.A. He served in the U.S. Army and later was the CEO and vice president of New Milford Savings Bank, now NewMil Bank, retiring in the early 1990s. He then became an entrepreneur and together with his son, Jim, founded Barrows Unfinished Furniture in Oxford.
Mr. Barrows served as a director of the New Milford Center Cemetery. He was a former board member and consultant for the New Milford Visiting Nurse Association and was an honorary member of Water Witch Hose Co. #2, New Milford.
Besides his wife of 40 years, Mr. Barrows is survived by two sons, Charles J. Barrows of Indianapolis, Ind., and James D. Barrows of Seymour; and a daughter, Jeanette B. LaSagna of New Milford; a brother, William D. Barrows of Hurdle Mills, N.C.; a sister, Mary Lou Secchi of Norwalk; and a granddaughter, Sarah M. LaSagna.
His brother, cartoonist Jack Barrows, died in 1995.

The memorial service will be held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Colonial Funeral, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford. Burial will be in Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
