Anne Beardsley, longtime resident

Anne Marie Pokorny Beardsley of New Milford, a former longtime Ridgefield resident who had worked for Ethan Allen, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at the Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford. She was 73 years old.

Mrs. Beardsley was born April 6, 1931, in New York City and grew up there. She attended the University of Miami where she met her first husband, Donald Detzer of Ridgefield.

The couple came to Ridgefield in 1956. After their divorce, she married James Beardsley of Ridgefield.

Mrs. Beardsley had worked at Benrus Corp. in Ridgefield and later, for 18 years, at the Ethan Allen corporate headquarters in Danbury.

She had been a member of the choir at the First Congregational Church.

She enjoyed music and art, including painting.

Mrs. Beardsley’s survivors include her son, Douglas A. Beardsley of Bethel; and two grandchildren, Dalton and Heather Beardsley of Bethel.

Services took place Wednesday at First Congregational Church.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Deacon’s Fund, First Congregational Church, 103 Main Street.

Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
