Thomas Patrick Doty of Ridgefield, husband of Anne (Hughes) Doty, died
Saturday, Aug. 2, at Danbury Hospital. He was 75.
A 20-year resident, Mr. Doty was born in New Haven Aug. 17, 1927, son of
the late Thomas and Anna Barrett Doty.
Mr. Doty was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Seabees. He was a retired milkman and
maintenance engineer for Upjohn in Hamden. He was also a natural craftsman.
He was devoted to his family. When his two grandsons were young, he was
a familiar sight on Main Street, pushing the boys in the stroller. Up
until recently, he was frequently seen in town running errands for his
son’s optometry practice.
A former sailboat aficionado, he enjoyed cruises and traveling to
Florida and Las Vegas. He also enjoyed gardening at home and doing home
remodeling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Lizabeth A.
Doty and Dr. William T. Doty and his wife Dorothy Galligan Doty, two
grandsons, Thomas Doty and Patrick Doty, all of Ridgefield.
Two sisters, Marion Ford and Helen Reynolds, died earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated today at St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will take place in Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden.
There will be no calling hours.
