Alice Greer, 88, longtime Ridgefielder
Alice A. Greer of New Canaan, who had lived in Ridgefield many years, died Monday, May 21, in Waveny Care Center, New Canaan, following a brief illness. She was 88 years old and was the widow of William M. Greer.
Born July 4, 1912 in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late George A. and Elida T. Renblom Anderson.
Mrs. Greer was a member of Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, the OWLS senior citizen group, the Sunshine Society, and was active with the League of Women Voters in Ridgefield for several years.
She had moved here in 1953, living on Limekiln Road. Her husband died in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, George Nelson Wolf of Custer, S.D., and David Francis Greer of Ridgefield; three daughters, Margaret Nosenzo of New Canaan, with whom she resided for the past several years, Christine Russell of Lexington, Ky., and Norma Millett of West Groton, Mass., 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, at 1 p.m. at Jesse Lee. There will be no calling hours.
The F. Hoyt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
