Virginia Tango, 42, manager, dancer
Virginia Ginny Tango of 410 North Salem Road, a corporate manager who was active in the performing arts, died on Thursday, Nov. 22, at her home. She was 42 years old and the wife of Richard R. Tango.
Mrs. Tango was born in Manila, the Philippines, on May 9, 1959, a daughter of Daisy Menina Polintan of Manila and the late Josue D. Polintan. She attended schools in the Philippines where she was a gymnast and was a gold
medallist in high school competitions. She also sang in a church choir in her youth.
She came to the United States in 1985 and was a graduate of Pace University, holding a masters degree in finance. Mrs. Tango had worked for Pitney-Bowes Corporation for 11 years. At the time of her death, she was manager of benefit finance and reporting.
Mrs. Tango was a member of the senior company of Hot Shoes, a Ridgefield dance company. She really loved dance that was her passion, her husband said. She was a very good ballet dancer when she was younger, but mostly did jazz dancing with Hot Shoes.
Mrs. Tango was also a classical pianist, and enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, and home decorating.
In years past, Mrs. Tango was active in the Mothers Club of St. Marys Church and served as a Daisy and Girl Scout troop leader.
She was a great mother and a great wife, Mr. Tango said.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Tango is survived by a daughter, Lauren W. Tango of Ridgefield; two brothers: Jojo Polintan and Jose Polintan, both of Manila; two sisters: Patricia Hornilla of Manila and Veronica Solis of Vancouver, Canada; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Leszek Szymaszek, parochial vicar, celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday in St. Marys Church. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery.
